According to documents of the Polizei-Abteilung Duderstadt, dated April 28, 1949, Sgt Fehrle died on April 4, 1945, in the community hospital of Duderstadt, Landkreis Göttingen, Niedersachsen, Germany and was initially buried at the cemetery of this town. Taking into account the information in which camp he was held prisoner of war, it is not clear, based on the information currently available, how and when he would have ended up in this hospital. Further research on this is needed as soon as other documents can be found.
