note:  Sgt Stanley S Brown had made numerous jumps in Italy, France and Belgium and was at the side of a buddy, Carl Salmon, when the latter was killed in action in Reno Italy. Stanley had been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in France on September 15, 1944.
The soldier Brown had been promoted for the rank of Sergeant only a short time before he met his death on the battlefields in Belgium.
