His story: Pvt Robert L Jackson was taken prisoner on 21 December 1944 in the vicinity of Sankt Vith, Belgium. He was first taken to Stalag VIII-A in Görlitz, Landkreis Görlitz, Sachsen, Germany. Today the place is called Zgorzelec, Poland.
On 14 February 1945, the American and British POW were marched out of the camp westward in advance of the Soviet invasion into Germany. The evacuation to Stalag VII-A in Moosburg near Murenberg in Bavaria, Germany, took place on foot and claimed further victims. Pvt Jackson must have died during this march. The exact location and circumstances are not known at this moment.
