His story: On December 21, 1944, Pfc Raymond W Eastmen Jr was taken prisoner in the vicinity of Schönberg, Belgium. He died in Stalag XII-A Diez, a little town near Limburg an der Lahn, Limburg, Germany, during a British night air raid on December 23, 1944. The intended target was the railway station in Diez, but some flares, dropped by the pathfinder aircraft, drifted off course in a strong wind and strayed into the POW camp. The bombs of RAF Mosquitoes did not miss the highlighted target of a concrete building, housing mostly medical personnel.
