note: Pfc James V McDonnell was initially buried in a common grave in Longvilly, together with two comrades as could be read on the grave marker. At the time their remains were disinterred, only Pfc Mc Donnell’s remains and those of Tec5 Herman J. Heckel of 2nd Tank Bn 9th AD were found. The third body was missing or the inscription on the marker was wrong.
Pfc McDonnell and Tec5 Heckel are buried at Henri-Chapelle.
