His story: Aircraft Lockheed LIGHTNING type P-38J-15 #42-104105, took off from Airbase Florennes, Belgium on December 25, 1944 for a strafing and dive bombing mission. The plane of 2 Lt Harold K Sargent was hit by FLAK while making a napalm run. His plane burst into flames instantly and burned until it crashed. Lt Sargent managed to bail out.
At first he was reported as MIA. Afterwards as POW imprisoned at Stalag Luft I Barth-Vogelsang, West Pomerania, Germany.
