His story: Aircraft Lockheed LIGHTNING type P-38J-15-LO #42-104398, took off from Airbase Florennes, Belgium on January 2, 1945.
Just like the day before, 1 Lt Alexander Zeece was in operation in the La Roche-en-Ardennes ► Prüm area. Around 9:40 am Lt Zeece was heard for the last time around. He reported he had a wing on fire. The information appearing on his IDPF (individual and personal death record) indicates that his plane crashed in the woods 437 yards south of Baraque Dumont near Limerlé, Belgium. The pilot was killed in this accident.
1Lt Zeece was initially buried by the Germans in an isolated grave, not far from the crash site.
