His storyAircraft Lockheed LIGHTNING type P-38J-10-N #42-68081, took off from Airbase Florennes, Belgium on December 23, 1944 for a strafing and dive bombing mission. It’s Pilot 2 Lt Adrian V Knox was hit by 88mm flak burst which took out the port engine, successfully feathered, starboard engine noted to be streaming oil and coolant. Shortly after 2 Lt Knox stated he was baling out, canopy came off. Jumped from his plane to 3,500 feet, west of Stavelot, as the P-38 descended. Unfortunately there was nog sign of parachute deploying.
